Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7/4/2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Metafiles. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application. By using Metafiles, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

2. Google API Services User Data Policy (Limited Use)

Metafiles's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Because Metafiles acts as an intelligence layer on top of your Google Drive, we require access to your Google Drive files. We strictly adhere to the following limitations:

  • Allowed Use: We only use access to read, write, modify, and control Google Drive file metadata and organize files on your behalf. We also generate thumbnails for visual presentation within the app.
  • No Third-Party Transfer: We do not transfer or sell your Google user data to third parties, advertising platforms, or data brokers.
  • Human Access: We do not allow humans to read your data unless we have your affirmative agreement for specific files, doing so is necessary for security purposes, or it is required to comply with applicable law.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Google Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we collect your email address, name, and profile picture to create and manage your account.
  • Google Drive Metadata: We store references (file IDs), titles, descriptions, mime types, and custom metadata tags you create within Metafiles to organize your Google Drive assets.
  • File Thumbnails: We may securely cache low-resolution thumbnails of your files to improve the performance and visual experience of the application.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Metafiles application.
  • To allow you to visually manage, tag, and organize your Google Drive files.
  • To enable secure public upload portals configured by you.
  • To improve user experience and analyze application usage.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. Your Google OAuth tokens are stored securely and are only used to authenticate requests to Google APIs on your behalf. We do not download or store the raw binary contents of your Google Drive files on our servers (except for temporary processing during user-initiated uploads, which are immediately discarded).

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your metadata and account information only for as long as your account is active. You may request the deletion of your account and all associated metadata at any time by contacting us. Revoking Metafiles's access from your Google Account security settings will instantly terminate our ability to access your Google Drive.

7. Contact Us
